Blessings

Adam amazes me in so many ways. Here was his prayer tonight as he went to bed:
"Dear God, thank you for Mommy and Daddy and Grayson (his friend with a brain tumor) and me...I know that you made the world in 6 days and then you rested for only one day. How did you do that? Weren't you tired? I would have been tired for more than one day. But you made everything, that's so cool. You are the best guy in the world, Amen."
Last night's prayer went something like this: "Dear God, thank you for Mommy and Daddy and me. Please keep healing Grayson's head. You are the coolest guy in the world. I hope you keep your job of protecting us because that's really cool. You protect the whole world. You even made the rocks and plants and stars and moon. I hope we go to the baseball game tomorrow because I've only been there before when I don't remember it...Amen."
Adam's understanding of "praise" is unbelievable to me. He has really begun to embrace this beyond what I could imagine. His prayers go further into praise than even mine do often! He praises God for who He is and what he has done. He asked me today what "blessings" are, and after trying to explain that one, he surmised that he has a lot of them. He then said "I want to do what God tells me so I'll be a blessing to HIM!" I wouldn't have guessed that I would be learning about God from a 5 yr old...but I am. And it's a blessing to ME! :)

First Day of Kindergarten

Above is Adam at his first day of school last week...And the yellow shirt one was his first day of preschool when he was 3! Somehow I missed taking this picture before Pre K-4...oh well.

And how about THIS comparison! Alan when he was in kindergarten! Gotta love that HAIR!!!

Yes, I did survive dropping him off on his first day...actually I didn't have a problem until dropping him on his 3rd day. At that point we had to stop walking him into the class and we are now dropping them at the curb instead! That was a bit of a transition for me! He is loving school by the way.

Reading lesson

All summer long Alan has taken the time to have a daily reading lesson with Adam. He's really starting to read for real now! I was shocked each day to hear about his progress, way to go Dad!

Pancake morning!

Adam was so thrilled with this breakfast he wanted to take a picture of it or he wouldn't eat it!

Wii

Adam is a Wii champion!

Little Adam came over and learned to play...had a blast until he swung around to swing the baseball "bat" and hit his head on the fireplace...5 stitches later he was doing ok.

Yup, Wii does get you up off the couch...and if you put as much energy into it as Adam, you might just burn some calories doing it!

Arrrggghhhh!

Can you believe the Tooth Fairy brought Adam some money even though there wasn't an actual tooth under his pillow? She's nice, huh? He left a note for her and I guess she understood. He purchased this pirate getup at the Dollar store with his tooth treasure!
